Book Clubs
With five million people in book clubs today and stars like Oprah and Reese championing them, Elizabeth has written The Age of Promises to appeal to that segment of the reading population.
Oprah’s Book Club selections include a wide-range of subjects, mostly about triumph over adversity, beauty in the ordinary, complicated family life, and love stories. In The Age of Promises, Bryan, the male central character, survives starvation, abuse, and poverty in rural Appalachia. Once he leaves Mean Mountain, he overcomes cultural discrimination to make a difference in the world, saving abused children one service dog at a time. Elizabeth dreams Oprah will discover her novel and introduce it to the world.
The novels of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club center the narrative on women and the readers’ hopes and dreams. In The Age of Promises, Aimee, the female central character, overcomes gender discrimination and child abuse to dedicate her life to stopping child abuse and helping maltreated children like herself. If you’re a fan of Where the Crawdad’s Sing by Delia Owens, one of Reece’s picks, The Age of Promises should appeal to you. Elizabeth has high hopes that Reese will someday read her book and add it to the Sunshine collection.
